Picking up Xsara Picasso Excl, 90Hdi 2004 tomorrow, Any idiosynchacies I should check? I'll be driving it 800 miles back from Dover to here.

If you have already bought it I take it you have given it a good test drive, if it seems OK it probably will be. Just make sure the battery is charging, light going out, and check the coolant level and the oil level of course.

There's not that much that will stop them - despite ours needing continuous attention it only stopped once when the LP fuel pump went. If it's got a light coloured dashboard make sure you take sunglasses -the reflection in the screen is terrible, verging on dangerous!

If you have not seen this car, then give the sills under the front doors a good poke all along the bottom - there is a bit of a design / construction fault somewhere that means the sill rots out under the front doors - if you look you will see more than a few with black sills / patches welded on. Once you get it home, get it on the ramps and ensure that the sill drains are clear (there's a couple behind the bottom flange).
