If you cannot put the cable where the door cables are going to the column (it is too tight cone) just make a hole in the rubber next to the cone using a drilling machine.

Here are some pictures.

Paul, by how much is it too large for squeezing in where a S2 Xantia has the clock and temp display?

Some pics of CC mounting. :)

The 3 wires from the existing stalk connector.
Image
(The red wire is for the board computer. Just put it in a single cable with the new 4 wires)
The yellow wire on the right goes to the brake pedal NC relay
Image
which is supplied from the brake pedal cables near the connector (the brown one)
Image
And just to put it together - the way it is connected -> http://postimage.org/image/5kmjhtc39/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

And the final :)

Just got back from holiday, and I need to say that this feature is nice and useful. It made me more calm on the road :)

Hi without a Lexia is it possible for me to check if my ECU is capable of cruise control?

I have a 2.0 HDI Xantia from March 1999.

No, you need the lexia to look into the ECU. HOWEVER, I have been looking at LOADS of ECU's as I have installed the Cruise lever, and wires etc but I cannot locate an ECU. Its only the LATE ECU's from 2000 that seem to have the cruise built in. MAKE SURE the ECU has 00 or 01 on the Date stamp. Anything earlyer and they dont have it....

Ahhh! what do you think about attempting to fit a simple kit like this one:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Cruse-Control ... 27dc168c22" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The control cable could be attached to the potentiometer throttle of the hdi. What about the speed input. Do the hdi have a speedo cable that can be tapped?

HDi have Speed sensor and electronic speedo... the sensor is on the gearbox Differential housing OUTPUT to the passenger side in your country.. with a 3 pin plug..

The differential is on the back of the gearbox, the drive shafts come out of each side of it to transfer the engine power to the wheels.. the sensor is in the engine bay round the back.. put the car up on some SAFE RAMPS, lie under the car and slide under to the back of the engine.. look up wards, and you will see the drivers shaft across the back.. where it goes in on the drivers side is the Differential unit, the speed sensor is right above where the shaft goes in...

The new ECU with configuration menu is installed from ORGA 8421, which is end of November 1999. This info is according service.citroen.com

The speed sensor signal can be found inside the car also. If your CC module will be there, it will be better to get the signal there. It is on pin 3 from dashboard left (blue) connector (wire 1628).
Another possible place is on the ECU connector. I have to check for the pin and wire numbers.

13 or 14 - Fuel level - pin 1 from dashboard left (blue) connector (wire 432)

Bottom connector:
5 - Reset button - through a button to Ground
6 - Low fuel - connected to the bulb on the dashboard. This is not mandatory. Its function is to switch the display to Fuel range remaining screen automatically when the low fuel light is on.
10 - Speed -> pin 3 from dashboard left (blue) connector (wire 1628)
12 - ECU fuel consumption info - > according to engine:

Can someone please explain how I can tap into pin 63 of the 2.0 HDI ECU. I have never opened an ECU before. If you have pictures then even better!

Also are the pins on the ECU marked or i start counting from top left.

You don't need to open the ECU.
Only the connector should be opened to insert a new pin.
Find another connector to disassemble and take pins from it.
When inserting to your connector, just push until it clicks. Pic.4 is only when disassembling the spare one for getting pins from it.

The pins are numbered on the ECU side I think. Look closer and you will see numbers somewhere.
Also, the pins are two sizes. You need the small size for pin 63. Some ECU-s have only big pins, so their connector is useless as donor.

If you can't find a spare connector for pins, there is another solution. It is good only for one connection on an outer pin on the connector. So for the trip computer is OK, but not for the cruise control.

If you look at the yellow connector fro the pictures above, here is an ugly explanation :)
Image

Take one wire - not so thin, but not so thick. Insert it in the hole of pin 63, and fold the edge to the outside of the connector, so when connecting it to the ECU, the wire can not touch other ECU pins.
After plugged in, the wire will touch the ECU pin.

This is the way my trip computer was connected until connecting the cruise control.
