Removing front hub

Post by Stekelly »

My ABS issue turned out to be a broken reluctor ring so I'm having a go at changing it. Have the caliper, caliper carrier, disc and hub nut off. Heading to get myself a hub puller now. Is there anything else I'm going to encounter while doing the job or is it a case of hub off, pull the shaft from the hub carrier, fit the reluctor ring then reassemble or does anythign need replacing?

Cheers

you dont need to remove all that, just undo the center hub nut and separate the lower swivel, then pull the hub/strut away leaving the CV joint/drive shaft clear of the hub,

you certainly wont even need a hub puller,

Just to clarify. The caliper and carrier are off because I'm fitting a new caliper anyway. Since thats going on and new pads, I figured I may aswell treat it to new discs and to paint the caliper carrier too :-D

Tap the end of the Shaft with a pice of hard wood.. DONT use a hammer it will flatten the end of the joint... sometimes they can sieze in or rust in place... so as you pull the hub outward tap the shaft inwards with the said SOFT material..

They are simply a push fit into the hub...

hope you undid the hub nut before separating the lower swivel and track rod end, otherwise you wont have any means of stopping the hub floating all over the place, in turn you wont be able to put enough heaf ho onto the hub nut to undo it, as it is FT tight,

also to move the CV joint out of the drive flange if it is stuck i wind the nut on till its flush with the end of the thread, then tap it with an ammer,
