C5 Parking sensor's now with pics.

Post by Alec B »

Morning all, one of the parking sensors has packed up. Does it use a specific type of sensor as I can't seem to source one of the internet. I also can't find the kit that our car has. Any Ideas? I have removed the sensor but I have no info on the control unit other than it's clear blue in colour and it has a buzzer + distance display mounted on the rear view mirror.

It sounds like you have an after market sensor kit, rather than a standard accessory?

The part number is 6590.01 Citroen call it an 'obstacle detector' so maybe a search for that will get you a result. Before you buy new sensors though a good check of the connectors is advised, mucky contacts are often all that's wrong.
Man is, by nature, a lazy beast, he does not need twice encouraging to do nothing.

Yes it is aftermarket hence the struggle for sensors. I thought maybe only one type would fit as it seems rather diffrent to the sensors on the www.

Ah yes it had a good clean but to no avail. I'll see if that part number will fit my kit I'm guessing it won't but worth a try.

If your sensor kit has a make it might be worth trying to see if you can get hold of the company?

Post a few pics of sensor head and ecu. I fit parking sensors for a living, so I might have one to fit. http://www.backtracksensors.co.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Appologies for jumping in on this thread. I recently purchased a 2011 C5 1.6 VTR+ and had the dealer fit front and rear sensor's. I expected him to fit Cirroen parts and link through the vehicle computer and screen but he fitted after market products that are not as good or accurate as factory fit items. Can anyone advise is there provision in the wiring loom as I suspect for retro fit and is there as I suspect software in the computer that could be activated via a lexia ?.
Regards Barry
