flat spot when pulling off any ideas?

Post by waynedance »

Happens when going to pull off sort of a second delay before anything happens. The accelerator cable seems to have no slack, fully serviced, egr3 cleaner used only use shell fuel.

Car is all standard and elloys fluid and filter all seem fine.

No ideas anyone?

If I give plenty of gas and let clutch out slowly the power is there.

EGR slightly stuck is a fair possibility, otherwise maybe a small boost leak, does it make any hissing noises under acceleration?

Check swirl valves are fully closed (arm rearward) if these are open low end performance is crap. Bearing in mind that these need vacuum to close it may be you have a leak and there is not enough vacuum to close them at idle and they only close when the engine gets a few more revs and the vac pump is working a bit harder.

Had this happen too. Turned out to be the swirl valves as mentioned by Cachaciero - the actuator arm end ( Ball joint ) had broken in my case. I just cable tied the lever back to closed position and all was ok. It's still cable tied now.......

Lexia time, although there are apparently no faults a Lexia would allow monitoring of critical items such as turbo pressure, fuel pressure etc.

It's the running parameters/data you want to be looking at there. I don't know how good the Launch would be for that - possibly some use, if it's the MacBook sized unit.

In that case, you should be able to do what Cachaciero suggests, driving around with the screen aimed to see what's going on at varying combinations of load and pedal position on a warm engine. If numbers are too hard to read, there may be a graph option to show any selected characteristic against real time (a bit like an oscilloscope).

The Launch tool isn't bad on Fiat family cars.
