New to me: C4 F&R screenwashers in unison

Post by addo »

I was speaking today with a chap whose driving enjoyment was being blighted thus; when he went to use either front or rear washers, both operated.

Story is, the fault developed post collision repair (airbags didn't deploy).

Has anyone else heard of this? Lighty or wheeler? I haven't put the Lexia on it (not even sure what sort of conversations the Lexia might have with an '08 C4 anyhow).

Cheers, Adam.

If it's anything like other models, there's a single pump, driven in opposite directions for each washer. There's a one-way valve in each line, so the water only goes up the appropriate tube. Sounds very much like these valves have failed.

It will almost certainly be a faulty pump, this is a reasonably common problem.

Thank you both, I reckon the panel shop will be relieved to hear this!
