Afraid of estates? Looks (on the surface) a decent proposition.

Not my thing, just don't like carrying a load of unnecessary metal around 95% of the time, or the way they look 8-[

So you'd never buy the mrs a milfwagen (as in, one of the non-SUV Germanic estates)? :P

The wagon is noisier inside than a hatch, but as a borderline claustrophobic the space is nice. More predictable on the road once you learn to factor in the rear upper weight.

Don't have the mrs problem :)

Never been an estate person, for loads the Xantia can't handle I prefer a van. Open the doors, throw it in, no trim or messing with seats to worry about.
Good, low mileage Xantia's are becoming hard to find though, I may even have to go C5 !

The silver HDI:

Interesting. Hadn't realising this the same car as went in recent auction for £575. Have to admit that had it been closer, I'd have had a serious look, though really prefer a hatchback. Yes, maybe not bad price, assuming it's exactly what it says, but knowing what it originally went for, I'm not having the guy make that much money at my expense!
