C5 running battery down

Post by Peter.N. »

Hi Folks

There is a C5 advertised near me very cheap but it apparantly runs the battery flat if its not used for a couple of days, is this a known fault or could it be anything?

It is an LX but is advertised as having cruise control, would that be an option on an LX, not that I particularly want cruise control I would rather have auxilluary heating but I just wondered.

Split charge relay is the most common problem I have come across, but obviously if it hasn't got a towbar it cant be that

Thanks for that, yes it does have a towbar, any idea how it runs the battery down?

The relay tends to stick on, hence using current constantly. I have had 4 or 5 of these go wrong, as they are usually cheap nasty chinese things.

Also, LX doesn't come with cruise as standard.

Thanks Lighty and Steve, useful info. I didn't think cruise control was fitted.

It's available as a dealer option at around £135.
Chris (citroenmad) bought and fitted his own without difficulty.
A Lexia is needed to tell the various ECUs that it is present.

Maybe it is not switching into eco mode, if this was the case all the CPU's would be permanently up and running plus probably a few other bits and pieces. Now I do not know for sure what the electrical consumption is in "nominal" mode but a figure of 3 or 4 amps wouldn't surprise me in 48 hours that's a flat battery.
