Hi,
My wvo running Xantia just failed MOT on a couple of issues the worst being that Xantia hazard light and indicator issue.
when I press the hazard light , sometimes it doesn't want to go off. The indicators too seem a bit temperamental although this could be old contacts in the stem. I seem to remember however that this problem was linked to an ignition issue?
The car is too cheap to run to let it go. Any ideas about how I can repair/replace the hazard/indicator to get it through its MOT?
Regards

Re: That Xantia hazard light and indicator issue
Hi, Not checked earths as yet.
I forgot to mention I replaced the hazard switch about a year ago, with another secondhand one. I cant say it made much difference. From that point on I just made sure I didnt press it.
I just noticed that a green cable has been disconnected from the hazard light relay, which I take it was supposed to go to the tow bar. I've also replaced that relay, maybe then i cut the cable.
Just going out to car now to reconnect the green cable to see what happens...........

Could well be the hazard switch as the indicator circuit is routed through it. Try squirting it with some WD40 and then give it a good work out.

Well re-attaching the green cable didnt seem to make any difference. I just tried pressing the hazard switch there and its certainly reluctant to switch off and sometimes only wants to flash left or right lights. I'll try the wd40
