Replacing LDS

Post by Alec B »

Hi all, I'm looking to replace the LDS fluid in the C5 in the next few months. Looking at some info it suggests a Lexia is required to totally de pressurise system. Really I just wanted to see if anyone has done it and what to look out for. Also has anyone posted a step by step guide as haven't been able to find one. I've done the LHM on my old Xantia so feel more than capable at doing it. Thakns in advance as always Alec.

Why would you want to replace the LDS, particularly bearing in mind it's cost?.
Citroen claim the oil is good for life and little I have seen or experienced would contradict that statement. LDS is not LHM and the environment in which it works is far more benign than the environment in which LHM works, both the oil and environment mitigate the forming of sludge which can happen over time with LHM.
Anyway to answer the question no you do not need a Lexia to change the LDS oil, you do need a Lexia to fully depressurize the suspension which is worth about another half litre in the tank but you can get the same effect by opening the bleed screws on the suspension.

I'll be totally honest I'm a newbie to LDS and didn't know that it had minimal service requirement's but now I know I'll look forward to not having to replace it.
