Dont do it !!!!!!!
They tend to drag , making gear changes stiff, and crunchy. Pedal will be harder than it should be. U can get a Valeo or LUK for around £50, its not worth saving a tenner.

Transmech

Are Unipart still going? They used to make stuff for British Leylands... They were one member of the unholy trinity of Lucas, Unipart and Wipac

The only decent thing Lucas ever made were diesel injection pumps and that was only because they just put their name on what was a CAV product...

Either Paul. Both are good, both are OEM and I'd be happy. I think it was a LUK we put in Chris570's HDi the other day...

If you ask Unipart locally they will tell you who makes that clutch. Lot of Unipart stuff is still very good. Batterys are Japanese Yuasa . Unipart spark plugs are all NGK.

I think their clutches are Valeo and AP (Borg and Beck). Oil is Shell and Fuchs. I have a Partco local and still get good deals........even LHM.

Paul,

Brian at Peugeot in Linwood (guy who MOT'd you V6) hates Transmech clutches and has told me to "never ever fit one of those ******* things to any car!".

Seems the general consensus seems to be the same.

ECP supply quite a few Sachs clutches, when you get them out of the box they are usually Valeo or LUK

avoid transmech, hateful things. Fitted a sachs to a 106, worked ok for the 15k i looked after the car for but the clutch never felt quite right, was quite grabby. maybe its a bit pot luck with sachs.. certainly wasnt a valeo or LUK though, but as you said, usually :)

You were lucky... I've heard similar stories from a Peugeot Mechanic where the mileage on several occasions was only 10k.
