I've had no problem buying them in the past, about three years ago was the last time. Then you could only by them in twos

I have a few kicking around so when you find what you need, let me know too...

This might help, a little Excel-based shim calculator I knocked up a few years ago...

It works fine in anything that will read a .xls spreadsheet such as LibreOffice or OpenOffice.org if you don't have Excel.

Will that one run the calculations on different entered values though Steve or is it just a plain viewer?

Ahh, that's a shame :( Might not cut the mustard then as my calculator requires that you enter existing cleatance values in order to calculate new ones...

I'd try the viewer but I have no Windows PC working at the moment...

For those without XL then OpenOffice or LibreOffice are excellent (free) alternatives.

CitroJim: Thanks for the offer, and the spreadsheet. If the shims were available as recently as a few years ago, they might still have some kicking around somewhere. Hopefully the dealer will be back to me real soon. :)

I bought a bunch of shims for my car about a year ago. Can't remember who I called, but I know it was a Citroen dealership, they came in packs of two and they cost about £6 each.

If a Citroen dealership doesn't have them, try a Peugeot dealership. Honestly though I can't see why they'd be rare, they probably wouldn't have them on the shelf but there are so many cars out there still running on XUD engines it'd make no sense to discontinue them.

Like JGRA, I've adjusted shim thicknesses using the Wet & Dry method, 1000 grade and white spirit. Not recommended if you need to take much off, but OK for 1-2 thou
