Just a quick question regarding the above.
I recently changed the (faulty) original cd player in my Xantia for an aftermarket Sony - I noticed that the clock and the steering wheel control buttons were no longer illuminated.
Today I fitted a set of patch leads to restore the steering wheel controls, work perfectly now and the buttons are illuminating - but the clock is still dark.
Is the clock illumination part of the same circuit as the steering wheel buttons, or is it independent ( and just a coincidence that the bulb has gone just now)?
If it is just coincidence and a blown bulb, how easy is the replacement procedure?
If it is part of the steering wheel control button circuit I guess I'll have to live without a lit clock, but at least I can control the stereo from the wheel (really like that function)

The clock is illuminated on the same circuit with dashboard, if you remove the scale where are the buttons and the clock...on the back of clock you will see a light bulb.Change it because probably is burned.
