DS5 Road Test + DS & 2CV Pics

Post by jwalshe »

Hello all,

Had the pleasure of road testing the DS5 in France last weekend. Have to admit, it's a fairly desirable piece of work. Interior is stunning and it's an impressive drive. Admittedly I was wishing for the floaty ride quality of 'proper' big Citroens but it certainly wasn't uncomfortable - even with the absurdly large 19 inch wheels.

But more importantly... I got my first ever drive in a proper DS! Spent Sunday afternoon wafting around the countryside in it. Possibly one of the best days of my life. I can't even begin to put the experience of driving one into words :-)

Anyway - I took some photos you might like:

But if I were to comment I'd probably say something like Top Photos.

It looks OK, not great but still good for a new citroen as they do seem to be going back to some crazy design ideas.

Really love the exhausts at the back and like the roofline off it but too many boomerangs im afraid and very LED happy though i guess it means they get away with a smaller lighter battery for the other electrics :)

I'm with Monkeyfeet on this issue.
The quality of the photographs is superb, the design of the car... not so much.
It looks like they tried too hard. A bit Juke unfortunately.

Ahh but did you know that the Juke is soon to be the most successful car built in Britain soon
Personally I think its the most interesting thing they have built for a very long time.
Just as well everyone has different tastes .

Yes, there are half a dozen on my street alone and hundreds of the buggers everywhere here.
Partly down to the 'just add fuel' deal that Nissan do and the discounts that the factory workers get (I live three miles from the factory - it is in Washington, not Sunderland as they would have you believe).

Doesn't make them any the less uggerly, like their big brother, the grotesque sQuashedKiwi.

Terrible aren't we

Cracking photos, its quite interesting seeing the older cars sat next to shiny new ones. I wonder whether they would get on well or be arguing if they could communicate?

I must admit, I've never noticed a Nissan Juke around these parts. It certainly has...quite a presence.

Some excellent pictures there James 8-)

The DS5 is quite appealing, I had another look in one today, I really like the interior. Some buttons are a bit fiddly but its a nice wrap around dash and feels well built. Kind of reminds me of a Peugeot 3008 eactually. It is a shame it has not got real suspension, im surprised by what you say about the ride, as most press reports have commented on a harsh ride.

A day in a DS in France, quite an expereince 8-)

I know, ever other car around here is a Joke, literally!

Apparently they are very popular on mobility, as is the Crashcar (Quashqui) My cousin works for Nissan and so he is lumbered with a Juke.

There are so many that im actually starting to get used to their looks!
