Citroen C5 1.6 HDI Turbo

Post by floggmolly »

I have a 1.6 HDI C5 the turbo packed up. I got a brand new turbo delivered today. There is slight play in the propellor/turbine is this normal? Is this ok to fit?

There will be a very small amount of play, but not much. Make sure you determine why the old one failed, or the new one could fail in less than 1 mile

You ideally need to use Total Ineo ECS, its a oil made by Total for the PSA 16v HDi engines with FAP filters.

You should also change it every year or 10-12K (I do mine every 7-8K), not the stated 20K, as this is where the problems begin ...

When we do a turbo on any 1.6 hdi, we always remove the metal gauze filter that is at the engine block end of the feed pipe. It is very fine and gets blocked. My theory is that some dirty oil is better than no oil.
Its a real pita to get the pipe off though, but better than wrecking your new Turbo. Most turbo manufacturers demand a new feed pipe to honour the warrant anyway.
