Evening gents
Has anyone sorted out a low pressure leak above the rear subframe on an Activa before, the leak is about 1 drop/sec and i need to get it fixed, i cannot see any pipes that are leaking but the leak is coming off of the front edge of the subframe and running down to the r/h strut box, most of the leak is running onto the height corrector mechanism and dripping off from there, tbh it looks like a subframe down job and im thinking i could just undo the two rear mounts and lever it down but i may well have to remove the rear hydractive valve too to be able to reach over.
The other trouble is that there are two plastic return pipes that seem to run from inside the front edge of the subframe and up between the fuel tank and subfame over onto the top of the subframe, the oil leak could be coming from the cavity they are in but i dont know where they come from or go to..........................
Anyone done this before? i cant spend too long on it as the Mrs is having joint trouble and cant walk without crutches or help so if anyone knows a shortcut or the quickest way please let me know as i need to get it polished off in a morning if i can and not waste time sitting there thinking about the job.

Re: Activa oil leak..........................
I had a leaky electrovalve when I first received my Activa, it was the Activa specific one and sits right up against the floor of the car, I can't recall ever timing the drip rate to be honest with you so it might not be the same problem as yours. Does it change when hydractive is on or off?
Edit - By that I mean when you force the valves into hard mode is it different from just sitting there idling in soft mode?

Re: Activa oil leak..........................
This may be the four-way union Dean where all the leakage return pipes meet. It's a right ****** to get to.
One person I know had this problem resorted to a 'tin opener' approach and cut holes in the boot floor!!!! I have the pictures somewhere as I wrote about it in the Citroenian.
It sounds on the wrong side to the the activa electrovalve and it sounds like it isn't the hydractive electrovalve as these tend to end up dripping off the end of the hydractive centre sphere.
One thing to do Dean and that's to pull F8 in the engine bay fuse box to force hard mode and see if the leak stops. If it does it may bne a leak in the tee-piece where the activa and hydractive electrovalve leakoffs meet on top of the subframe in the middle. This was the cause of the leaking in the Activa that had a tin opener taken to it.
The original article was in the December 2010 edition. If you don't have it, PM me and I'll get it to you as your symptoms look very similar.

Re: Activa oil leak..........................
Thanks guys, i can see the hydractive and arcs electrovalves and although the hydractive leakoff pipe is dry before it shoots over the subframe it is starting to crack, the leak seems to come from roughly behind the rear hydractive block right on top of the subframe although reaching over i cant feel anything wet, thats the trouble with leaks in strange places they are hard to trace, it only leaks when the engine is running but i will pull the fuse before we leave tomorrow and see what happens, if i can run it in hard mode and leave it a week or so before having to bite the bullet i will as i just cant work on it at the moment, typical it would throw all its toys out of the pram now though

Re: Activa oil leak..........................
I had a leak up there on my previous HDi one of the plastic return pipes had popped off a joint, simply pushing it back in sorted it out.

Re: Activa oil leak..........................
Thanks Richard, i can see someone has ben fiddling up there as if i shine a torch up between the subframe and fuel tank there is a corrigated cable sleeve hanging unclipped, a keyhole surgery style poke with a screwdriveer revealed the sleeve to be empty so im hoping its just a case of pushing it back together and replacing some deteriorated pipes, not been able to sleep for 3 days now so as you can imagine im not falling over myself to get this done
