xantia s1 1.9td sx heater fan intermittent .

Hi Guys , have done a search but cannot find this exact issue anywhere .

My heater fan usually only works when in the 'max' position and even then cuts out and restarts at times .
The car has a/c which i never use .

I know about the pollen filter , or i think i do , have had a look , it's not new , but still not toooo bad .

can i just remove this filter entirely to see if that makes any difference ?

Look up the relay mod.
Also check the 4 wire brown plug on the blower motor as it can get scorched and deformed.
Even though it only seems to run on max, if you put your hand over the vents you may still feel it working as the blower is very quiet

your're right , the fan does work but makes no noise (and little effect) at the slower speeds , 'cos it's a diesil i can't hear it .

sounds like the regulators knackered to me its a the chip on the back of the motor, it controls the speed of the motor, can get them off of a scrapyard for about £15 each they dont like to guarantee them though because the brushes wear out and the regulators go when they get to hot.
