Xantia door hinges.

Post by mirafioriman »

I noticed that there is some wear in the drivers door hinges. Is this likely to be the pins? If so assuming new ones are available I might have a go at replacing them.......

Hi,

Thanks, but it looks like the welding of the hinge on the door and pillar is ok. It's wear either on the hinge pin or the hole in the hinge. I'm hoping it's the pin!

The pins are dead easy to remove - they're screwed in so it will be easy to inspect them for wear...

I my experience, hinge wear is rare.

Plenty of plus gas sprayed on the lower end of the pins in case they've rusted in, and a decent torx bit should have them out without any problems.

Thanks,

Does anyone know if new pins are available at the dealer? If so I might as well get some and fit new ones rather than removing the old ones only to refit them. Might as well do the passenger door too :)

Hinge pins are available under part No. 9044 34 and are described as 'Hinge Shafts' :|

Front and rear doors use the same pins...
