Is it unacceptable to enlarge the fitting holes with a drill?

Are they not tapered?

I'd be checking the sphere pressures - might be a bit flat. Added to the Glasgow cold, it could just be yer nackers rattling...

No...which is why they are such a PITA to get off when they are a bit rusty - as soon as you take the tension off the whole things goes floppy, and stopping it going round is nigh on impossible.

I can't see why you can't enlarge the holes - afterall, that is almost certainly exactly what Citroen did!

Rear spheres are brand spanking new on 2 days ago (manu date 4 months ago) Front spheres are regassed CX Turbos - super plush... Definitely not that!
Might be my knackers rattling true.

I'm wondering if it's worth drilling the holes larger just for a cheap ass pair of rods off ebay. They certainly don't look as good a build as the rattly old ones (that might even be factory fitted..) Just don't know..

Will update!

AEP list the proper Lemforder ones at <£30 each - must order some, mine sounds like the front subframe is falling off!
D'uh wrong one - it's car parts 4 less, and they're only £17.40 (Nearly a tenner more at Euro car parts....!)

I meant to order 2, but only manged to order one  Never mind, new link fitted to the drivers side yesterday - much quieter! The old one was so far gone the bottom joint fell apart whilst it was being removed - with my best friend Mr A Grinder - there was no way the bottom one was coming off any other way :P I found that the later ones can be checked for play in the bottom joint by swinging on the nut - which reveals the near side one is away too, although not nearly as bad as the OS! The service from carparts4less can't be faulted - fast delivery, their website makes sense (GSF take note... [-X ), and the link came in a bag with Lemforder written all over it, and included new nuts and washers.

Now to order one for the other side. And a new handbrake cable!
