Romie,

Delphi has the air con hoses connecting into the back fo the pump on a plate with 1 bolt through into compressor housing.

I think your belt is 1710.

I'll look at your photo's again to make sure

Kenny

P.S.

Romie your pump is sanden not a delphi, I try and find a photo of my compressor or I'll wait until SWMBO returns home from work and post a photo.

oops, opposite to what Xac said? :/

If they are individually held on by massive nuts, then it's a delphi harrison
If they go into a plate that is bolted to the compressor, then it's a sanden

The pages showing 1726 would be why Cassy takes the 1725 as she's got the auto tensioner as shown in the top page (with the alternator).
Romie, because you've got a mix of the manual tensioner and the aircon in the auto tensioner position unless someone has the same set up we're really not going to be able to give you a definitive answer.
It could be that the car originally came with an auto tesioner (I don't know when they came in, Cassy has it and she's a '97, perhaps someone can do a RP number check) and some garage in it's past replaced it with the manual one and found a suitable belt to fit.
The only thing I can think of is either buy several belts, and match one to the current belt and take the rest back for a refund, or remove your current belt and take it into the shop to match.

It's the same as mine which is a Delphi Harrison 1135253

Then again I'm now finding sanden with the same number!

I'm finding both makes with both types of fitting, so perhaps that isn't the way to tell. It looks like either can be fitted with a different connector end to cope with either of the A/C pipe types.

Romie and xac,

My apologies Xac for suggesting you were wrong it would appear the difference maybe they can be changed with the Sanden version where as my old girl could not because of a different fitment

I am going to e mail tech services at delphi to find out.I have the following No's

1135253, 1135290 & 1135463 and will ask for diagrams if available or a manual which we can post on the site elsewhere

Hi Kenny,

I know you weren't suggesting in anyway Xac was wrong :)

Emailing tech support at Delphi would be going 'above and beyond'! It would be great to get to the bottom of this.

I've got this whole weekend booked out for replacing both belts, changing the brushes in the alternator and welding on a new bottom bracket for the drivers side door :|

Looks like it's going to be a chilly, knuckle scraping couple of days 8(

Fingers crossed!

On the couple of A/C compressors I have in stock they both have manufacturer stickers on their side about halfway along, the trouble being that I believe the stickers will be on the engine side when they are mounted, must be worth getting out a small mirror and a torch to confirm what compressor is fitted.

Sandens have some very standard aspects of appearance; look at the SD7XX series to see what I mean.

So here is the diagram of the sanden compressor.

Image

When comparing the delphi diagram with the sanden one, the images I took from beneath my car seems to show more points that look like the delphi than the sandern.

Notice the 'ribs' going to the mounting points on the delphi diagram and on the actual picture of the one on the car. The sandern does not have these ribs.

Also notice the mounting points themselves. They 'stick out' much more like the ones on the delphi, but the sandern ones are a lot more squared off.

Image

Image

On a different note, it's odd that if Citroen go into their system via the 'compressor type' then there is only a choice of two belt lengths depending on compressor.
- No mention of the alternator?

But - If they go in via the alternator route then there are four choices of belt length depending on how many points the alternator is bolted on by AND THEN the type of compressor!!!

ugh... I've got to get something ordered to get to me for the weekend. Based on a 3 point alternator and that I've, (fingers crossed), got a Delphi compressor it should be a 1710mm 6 rib belt, order codes (5750P2), (6PK1710).

hmmm :/

That'd be really helpful Kenny!
Looking at the different compressors online that all proport to be the same model (SD7V16) but have different hose attachments, which would suggest that the pipes are not make specific as I though.
Those diagrams above show what Jim mentioned, with the pulley face being the important factor, especially as the Delphi Harrison diagram mentions screw union and union with clamp.
So triangular plate on the pulley = Delphi Harrison
Kool-aid man shape plate on the pulley = Sanden

...would make me a happy worker as well! Think I've got to the last of the leaks that's caused all that muck last weekend. Just not enough time in the day :(
Trouble is other higher priorities keep getting in the way. Like the heating matrix has just failed, that's going to be another couple of days.. Having to use a towl to clear the INSIDE of the windscreen now. Am sure it's not good breathing in evaporated coolant for two hours a day on the daily commute to earn the cash to buy the parts to get me to work to buy the parts to...

~ sigh

If you have any suggestions on how to give that a good clean please let me know. That's a mix of engine oil, vegetable oil and LHM. I don't think Jizer water soluble degreaser will touch it - or my driveway. What you think? I spose it's not very sporting to bung it through an Asda car wash? :p

Thank you very much for the effort you put in to upload pictures of your compressor! I know how time consuming it can be!

Cheers! Romie
