What belt should I work on first?

Spose just lock all the timing pins in and change both belts at the same time?

hmm, rethink.

Timing belt first, check everything is running ok.

Remove all the timing pins.

Then change the Aux belt after knowing everything else is ok.

So only change and test one thing at a time - good for diagnostics! :)

You've got to remove the aux belt to change the timing belt.... you can put it back together and run the engine without the aux belt to check that timing is OK - and some prefer to re-check the tension after the engine has been run. Then fit the new aux belt and check it is running true.

Uh.
Saying the car has air con with a delphi harrison compressor:

Citroen say the Drive belt is 1710mm long and Unipart are saying it's 1738mm long?

Both say there is only one choice of belt with the delphi harrison compressor.

Could this be to do with whether the car has automatic or manual tensioner?

Or the amount the belt can be tensioned to allows for a belt size from 1710mm to 1738mm?

That's what I was thinking.
1725 can be removed without needing to undo the eccentric tensioner, just by levering the auto tensioner all the way, so I would imagine with slakening the eccentric a 1710 would fit.
As the car in question has the manual tensioners, I would imagine by slackening them both off a 1710 would also fit.

Hey Xac, cheers for such a fast response!

Right, this is to do with **** ANOTHER ***** option :( and whether the alternator has 3 or 4 point fixings it looks like. See below:

I need to figure out how many points my alternator has.

It's a VALEO CL8 2541738C A13VI85

I'm going to try and find some pictures of new ones to work it out...

The 3 point alternator has options:

1700 with Sanden
1710 with Harrissow (their spelling)

So by the looks of this site:
http://walljet-autoparts.com/ehtml/cont ... x=963&b=37

It seems like I have a 3 point alternator, (presuming 3 point means - fixed by 3 points).

Image
HC No.:CA639IR
LESTER No: CA639IR
Product Info:12V/90A,6-Grooves Pulley
Replaces:Valeo A13VI85,A13VI31
Used On:CITRO-ZX(N2)-1.9D;PEUGE-205 II(20A/C)-1.4

I've not got a four point alternator to compare it to but it seems logical.

Anyone know if Is this correct? - That the Valeo A13VI85 is a 3 point alternator?

~ Sigh ~

Romie,

What number of Delphi pump do you have 1135290 or 1135243. I think each compressor pump had different alternators fitted which affects the size of belt.

My old 1.9 TD was 1135290 comp and belt size 1738 with 4 point alt :!:

Hi Kenny,

No idea what number the Delphi compessor is. I couldn't see ANY markings on the compressor from underneath the car. We only deduced that it was a Delphi pump from the pictures I posted here and confirmed with exploded diagrams from Citroen.
