My previous HDi 1999 'V' reg RP 8382 2000 model year still had the RP number near the O/S strut.

As said, AROUND V... Im not 100% sure where my RP is on V, but certainly from W onwards the RP is on the door pillar sticker.

Unless like the one I look after, its an early car with a late plate on it!!

So the RP sticker mystery takes a turn, as your Activa was built 129 days earlier than my previous HDi yet has the sticker on the door, looks like the estates (built separately by Heuliez) continued with painting the RP on the bulkhead much later than the saloons built by Citroen.

My Estate is reg Jan 01, RP is something starting 88 I think - and is still painted on the bulkhead...must chek the door sticker to see if there too. Must also get out more!!

The two letters often found on the end of the RP number indicate the build factory - and it seems that on some later cars (eg Xsara Picassos) the change over of certain components happened at different times in different factories! So you need the full RP including the factory code. Oh, and they have also started calling it DAM....

I have now contacted several breakers without any luck, A5 French Salvage has one but the RP of the car is 8388.

I have enquired for a new one but that’s £150.

Just checked on Service.citroen - yes £150 - that is daylight robbery!! However, I had a thought, and checked MK1s - these use the same part as yours (well after RP 6965, which is 26 Aug 1995) - so that should allow you to widen your search a lot!

This was the one RP7900, I went over this morning and collected the slip ring, I have compared it with our original and it looks right. The garage that has the car say it should be ready Monday morning for me.

Thanks to everyone who helped.

Kind regards

Nice one Chris - I'm going to have the front fogs off that one I think, to replace the smashed ones from earlier in the winter when I had an argument with some black drain pipes on a dark road

The Xantia estate was complete and I was the first person to have any parts from it, from memory the fog lights were there.

Maybe I'm missing something here but if an S1 Xantia part is compatible with an S2, what happens about the horn as the S2 is on the wheel whereas the S1 is on the stalk?

Another useful nugget, Xsara and Xsara Picasso slip rings are near as dammit the same as late S1s. The only difference being the radio control wire dashboard side, which with a bit of patience can be swapped.
