Xantia Activa spheres/suspension

Post by olliejamesbrum »

New here but guess its a good place for xantia stuff!
Friend has a an activa, and on driving it am certain the suspension is not right - the rear is virtually solid at low speed.
And pretty firm on the front.
handles beutifully on limit and at speed so suspect it may just be stuck in the wrong mode with slightly tired spheres as a "bonus"
What is the correct sequence for checking this system?
How to check its changing between modes correctly? is there a solenoid output to check? etc etc
Does anyone have a copy of the proper citroen technical info?
Then how do we check the spheres? Am familiar with all BX models which ones should it feel like on which settings??
Basically the car is excellent and he wishes to keep it that way so we might as well understand it now!
Dont particularly want to change all the spheres to find it was meant to feel like that or a fuse had blown!
Thanks in advance

Ollie -
I think you get away best with this - by initially reading (download) this VERY fine Citroen tech document found here :
http://www.tramontana.co.hu/citroen/guide.html
It's a 0.6Mb pdf file - crammed with detailed functional descriptions of the various hydraulic systems - from the the GS to the C5.
You'll quickly learn how to diagnose problems on the Activa.
