Anyone with good C8 knowledge

Post by Stekelly »

My plans to get a Fiat Ulysse in Glasgow seem to be unravelling so I've seen a C8 in Doncaster. I'm flying over in the morning either way so I'll be buying something.

I havnt dealt with a HDI (2l) before so what should I be looking for both in the C8 in general and with the HDI?

Cheers

HDi 2.o 8v engines are REAL crackers!!

But I think all C8's are 2.0 16v engines. Check for water leaks (RAIN WATER) off the windscreen, Ive been told common cam belt brakages on the C8s is because the belt area is right under the winscreen scuttle, and its common for water to poor into the belt area... because drains are blocked..

So far the 16v 2.o HDis have prooved good so far, its the Early 2.2 16v engines which are a bit tempremental.

Im a big HDi fan, my Xantia 2.0 8v has done 31k (In 12 months) with out a single moments problem! It fails to disapoint!

I dont know much else about the C8 just that yet again its a Fiat Design not a PSA... Smart looking machines!

Cheers Paul. This ones an auto Exclusive too. Looks lovely. The missus is going mad though cos this ones for her sister and she'd decided she wants one too the other week so when her sister decided on the Ulysse she was happy enough. Now I'm getting the "but it'll be the same as mine" line :-) Most likely I'll be back over in a few months again. Hopefully for an 07 or 08.

If it's got the 3 sunroofs in it check for water damage, for some odd reason Citroen didn't think fitting drain tubes was necessary! it can be fixed but trust me it's not a job you want to do!!! Check the seats tilt forward correctly, when tilting the back rest forward the base of the chairs (at the rear) should spring up of their own accord with the front runners remaining in place, thus the seat is still in place c/o the front runners but folded up, make sure the seat belt works on the middle row centre seat too. Check for flaking paint on the exterior door handles. Being a high spec' model it should have electric sliding rear doors (look for the buttons on the remote & in the roof just near the r/v mirror), make sure they work as replacing the motors is difficult & expensive, note if the car is in 'eco mode' it may need running for a few mins before the doors work.
Music keeps me going.
