Hi, and welcome :)

If you own a multimeter, it's easy to check the alternator. Measuring DC volts over + and - with the engine stopped, should give you a reading a 12,6-12,8V for a healthy and fully charged battery. With the engine idling, you should measure ~14,2-14,8V

Electronic heating? Like 4 glowplugs in the coolingwater, or?

The two problems can be related.
On some PSA-cars the blower starts when the engine is running and the alternator is charging. So I still think your alternator may be worth a check first.

Xantia II (with AC) to mention one, can't start the blower just with ignition on - The enging must be running.

Hi,
I need the last 8 digits of your VIN-number to see something at Citroën Service-net. I believe that Synergie is what we call a Evasion here in Denmark: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Citro%C3%ABn_Synergie" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Your original alternator is a 150 A "mitsubishi-style" thingy.
Original partnumbers are 5705.4F (new), 5705.GC (refurb) (can't find them on Ebay)

This one can probably replace the old one (It's a 120A); http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Genuine-Citro ... 052wt_1163" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Did you take a measurement?
