C5 Front Armrest

Post by mlkey »

Hi,

The drivers armrest is misbehaving in that is no longer goes down low enough. Does anyone know how to remove them for inspection?

Thanks.

Mines is being funny as well. If I put my arm rest up then put it down, most of the time it won't catch the lower position and it just goes right down to the floor.
I need to wind it all the way back and try to catch the lower position a good few times until it gets it.

Anyone? I don't want to break the armrest, but can not see how it detaches.

Please note that quite a lot force pushing the armrest towards the seat might be needed. The fix for my armrest was just to spray some WD40 and turn the ratchet mechanism with pliers back and forth for a while and adding some more WD40 inside the mechanism.

Sorted managed to remove it.

Wanted to check for damage, I lent over in the the back of the car and pushed the rest back a little. When the rest is in the up position it goes approx 2 inch back more than normal.

Would that be the seat or the arm rest I have broken?

I do not have a pic but it is quite easy to remove an armrest. With the arm in its normal stowed position (parallel to the seat back), push it firmly towards the side of the seat. It should move a little. Then while still pushing the arm towards the seat rotate towards the rear of the car for about 90 degrees. As you release the pressure the arm should release from the seat. Fitting is the above in reverse.

did you find a solution. Mine goes all the way down to the handgear, and does not stay horizontal. I opened it completely but could not figure out a hack to fix it.
