Xantia wiring woes

Post by qafire »

Hi, after doing the serpentine belt I've had a few electric problems with my 1996 Xantia 1.9d - as she is the home hack I’ve just bypassed the main problem which were the erratic electric windows with a new feed. I did this by sourcing a feed from a large juicy pink wire in the foot well under the fuse box which was a constant live - ok the windows are always on - even when the key is out but that wasn't a problem.

Today, ice, frozen windows press button.... nowt, checked every fuse and all seem okay, nothing else seems to have stopped working but this large pink wire down the side of the foot well under the fuse now seems dead. After hours trying to read wiring diagrams I give up! Does anyone know what these (there are 2) pink wires are for so I can see if there is a fuse I've missed somewhere? Next task will be door cards off but just hoping someone might know what these wires feed?

Cheers

Happy bodger (most of the time)

Can you try and read the number on this pink wire? That'll help identify it. The number should be repeated at intervals along it.

Is she high miles?? Or has she had a lot of drivers door open and closing???

If so, theres a highly HIGH chance theres a broken wire between the door and car! Which has resulted in the loss of power to your window!

Any wire can break in there, sometimes its a speaker, or the Central locking..

Pull the grommet back at each end and try and see for a broken wire..

Cheers Paul, I'll check that out. Car has done 147k - but smokes less than my new Vauxhall cdti!
