Does anyone know if the exhaust system on a 2001 C5 3L V6 is common to any other models as I am finding great difficulty in locating a replacement for my blown mid section?
Any ideas?

Re: C5 V6 Exhaust
Don’t know if common to any other models but Citroën only sells the lot as one piece for well over £1,000.
That was for the good news.
The bad news is that Citroën had patented the complete assembly so as to prevent copying.
I would suggest exploring the back streets for a wise muffler man who could ‘arrange’ something.

You can't patent an assembly, only a novel device or method. I doubt that the C5 V6 exhaust has any more novel device than any other car.Clogzz wrote:The bad news is that Citroën had patented the complete assembly so as to prevent copying.
Copyright is a different issue, and more likely to be applicable, but it does not seem to dissuade after-market production of any other car parts.

It's likely a custom one can be made a lot cheaper than what Citroen want and maybe in stainless steel too..Clogzz wrote: I would suggest exploring the back streets for a wise muffler man who could ‘arrange’ something.
When I lived in Cyprus in the early 80s all exhausts were custom made. Exhausts shops simply had stocks of silencers, pipes, a bender and a welder. Every exhaust was fabricated there and then while you watched and waited...

Re: C5 V6 Exhaust
I imagine that one of the stainless steel exhaust manufacturers/fitters would be able to sort you out.
The only one I can think of is Powerflo, they are usually hand in glove with Tyrespot.
As they make a custom part, they usually fit better than pattern parts. I have considered fitting a custom stainless exhaust but been overcome with parsimony.
The original exhaust on this thing lasted ages though.

Thanks folks,
I've now heard that the Peugeot 3.0L V6 shares the same exhaust - any knowledge?
I'm looking more at a replacement from a breakers as the car isn't worth the price of a new system. Any good contacts?
Appreciated.

You'll be looking a Peugeot 407 for that then. Basically the same car.
Easiest thing to do is go to any decent exhaust place and they'll put something together for you.
