As above does anyone have any insight into how to make this easier, im talking about the
donut shaped rubber torque mount to the back of the engine underneath.
After much effort i managed to hacksaw the old one out but for the life of me i cannot get the new one in,
it is an interference fit so obvisouly is bloody tight.
I have tried heating the bracket and tapping the new one in but it doesnt go in more than a few mm
before becoming stuck, im trying to avoid having to remove the driveshaft to take the bracket off.
Is there a trick to doing it or do i just need to apply more heat, car is 03 c5 2.0hdi if it helps,
thanks sam

Unfortunately, the simplest way is to remove the mount and press the new insert home.
With the front up on two stands, it's not too hard - however, crack the driveshaft and lower balljoint nuts before putting the car up. Also, if you disconnect one end of the nearside droplink there is no risk of upsetting the ride height when separating the balljoint from lower arm.

Re: changing lower rear engine mount
It might but you still have to get the old donut out... That's as hard (or harder) as putting a new one in.
You might find that Poly mount is unsatisfactory in other ways, in the vibration department for one...
Basically, there's no avoiding having the drive-shaft out and popping the casting off. Doing that will be quicker than buggering about with alternative methods, believe me.

Re: changing lower rear engine mount
Besides heating the bracket, a trick on the BX was to freeze the donut.

Re: changing lower rear engine mount
Cheers cloggz, thats exactly what i did in the end, i heated the bracket and froze the donut and applied a good bit of spray oil
and in the end i managed to tap it on, whilst removing the driveshaft was probably the most sensible thing i didnt want to
disrupt anything else (oil seals e.t.c) and then have problems with them, cheers sam
PS, in case anyone needs to know the part the eurocarparts have listed as c5 left hand engine mount, or at least for the hdi is incorrect
the part they send is for a xsara, trip to the stealers for me im afraid

I was just about to say the same, that's how I got one in but you have to be quick before the temperatures equalise. You need to have a socket that will just fit the end of the bush metal sleeve and a large hammer to hand, I must admit mine didn't go right home but near enough - and that wasn't the problem anyway.
