Check your breather system.

Blocked engine breathers result in the crank case being pressurized which cause the crankshaft seals to blow.

Not done this for quite some years , it was fairly common to find marks or damage to the crank itself usually from previous ham fistedness - then a crank sleeve / seal kit was req'd , are these still available ?

We also used to drive the new seal home using the old one reversed ( unless you have the proper tool ) after dropping the new seal in boiling water for a couple of minutes to make it more pliable .

Was it a genuine Citroen oil seal you fitted, or a "pattern" one?

I once fitted pattern oil seals to the camshaft of a 1.7TD engine, and they leaked. No leaks once they were replaced with genuine seals, which has made me suspicious if not fitting genuine seals.
