Active Sensor Bearing on ZX?

Post by the_weaver »

Is there such a thing as an "Active Sensor Bearing" on a Citroen ZX? I entered my car details into the Eurocarparts website, and the bearing it shows has the comment "Active Sensor Bearing". I expect this is just a mistake, or are all bearings being sold now of the "Active Sensor" type. If so, do these bearings fit old cars?

My car is a ZX Reflex 1.9D, 1993, no ABS, no PAS.

The bearing from the Citroen service website is 335016, which is just a standard bearing, used on loads of Citroens.

The Eurocarparts website comes up with part number 628545030, which is an SNR bearing, with the "Active Sensor Bearing" comment.

i have never herd of such a thing especialy on a ZX,

also after seeing dodgy components from E*C*P i think i would think twice about buying bearings from them, even if they apear to be a branded make,
i think tyhey are the TESCO of the automotive trade,
keep squeezing the manufacturers down on price so there is no way they can produce a quality product, or even till it knocks those companies out of the market,

i think you would be safer buying from GSF or an indipendent motor factors,

my local indy stocks Motorquipe which are usualy a good bet,

Ok, thanks Malcolm. I'll have a look around for bearings. ECP prices have gone up a lot anyway. £31 for my bearing last year, now £45. I think I must have had a special offer.
