Best buy car fault reader
Hello, i was wondering if anybody knows a best buy car fault reader for OBD 11 as there are a few to choose from on e-bay and don't want to buy a dud one, any advice would be a great. I would like it to read and clear faults
Re: Best buy car fault reader
i think it realy depends how far you want to delve into the diagnostics,
i think i saw someone on here saying they had bought an ELM but not sure which modle, and they said it was very good for i think he said around £15 quid, you do need to conect it to a laptop/pc though,
otherwise a lot of people on here have found the Chinese LEXIA clones to be ok now they seem to have sorted the software out,

On what car?
Remember that Citroens before 2001 (petrol) and 2004 (diesel) are not OBDII compliant and can only be read with a Lexia. Specialist parts of a Citroen, even if the engine ECU is OBDII compliant, will still need the Lexia for such things as the suspension and body computer and so on...
best to get a Chinese lexia and that has an OBDII scan tool built in...

I bought one of these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ELM-327-USB-1 ... 4154aec206" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
to read the fault codes on my 2001 Citroen C5 2.0 petrol. It cost under £14. With this I can read and erase my stored fault codes, monitor sensor data e.g. RPM, emissions data etc.
It connects to the laptop via USB and interfaces with OBDII software. I use the PCMScan software package which is awesome but if you want a free package I recommend OBD-DIAG http://www.er-forum.de/obd-diag-dl/inde ... 20Software&" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
