C5 2.2HDi underpowered and will not rev.

Post by sirlynedoch »

Hi guys and thanks for all the help so far Tony and David.
Re C5 2.2Hdi 2002, underpowered and will not rev past 3500 revs and going through a lot of diesel.

FAP cleaned out.
Eolys topped up and reset.

Lexia says Air flow fault and air temp flow fault.

Tried a new MAF sensor - still the same. Possibility one of the vacuum pipes is on wrong? Tried disconnecting turbo electro valve and disconnecting swirl valve from ball lever and pulling swirl valve up.

Could a leak in one of the vacuum pipes cause this sort of power loss?

Please can anyone suggest more? 8-[

Hi Ally

Well based upon what we know so far it seems to me that the most likely problem is an injector. Checking the fuel consumption as indicated by the trip computer against that calculated by measuring the amount put into the tank might tend to confirm this. It would probably also be worth having the compression checked.

hmm

the swirl valve actuator broke on my 607 a few months ago. It was a bit down on power but still drivable. Once I bodged that back together it actually used more fuel (I guess it was stuck in "economy" mode). So I think that isn't the problem.

the ECU is not getting the airflow that it wants, and is therefore not injecting much fuel either (it won't inject more fuel than there is air available to burn it). this is either due to a MAF sensor fault, or, it really isn't getting the airflow.

EGR stuck open?

can you block the EGR on these like you can on a 2001?

if you loose vacuum the ECU looses control of the turbo and freaks out. You get a warning light and limp home mode.

Hi Tony and Dieselnut again,

I was examining engine last night when I saw a small pool of diesel at one of the injectors.

This seems to be a leak under high pressure.

Could this be the cause of the problem?

it's a good start, u shouldn''t have pools of diesel around injectors so it needs investigating.
