David, between us we can give loads of advice following many experiences of this job
Yeah, Buy a XM!!! :-D

Heater Matrices rarely fail on XMs, and can be changed in a couple of hours!

Come on Chris, you're restoring an XM - that job makes a Xantia heater matrix look like a Sunday afternoon snooze

If it wasn't for that bloody elbow then it would not be a bad job at all. David, between us we can give loads of advice following many experiences of this job
Toooo late I've done the K-Seal

Works or not I'm going to use car through Winter, It's my work car.
But I've decided on a plan :x use my Citroen CX TRi Safari for work in summer (putting the turbo engine upgrade on hold) and do a restoration on Xantia as it's got to the age/mileage for faults becoming the norm. No way am I going to unload a quality rarish Xantia, that's been my faithful workhorse for 7 years.

Thanks for all advice, I should have logged on this morning :( .

I'm delighted you're going to do a restoration on the car over the summer David. Indeed, they're rare now...

The best tip I can offer for the elbow is to do as Chris and I did to separate his. Work at it from both ends using two people. split the old matrix at the inner flange joint and with one holding the elbow in the engine bay the other one can really give the stub pipes a good tug from within the car with plenty of room to work...

Room on the Turbo CT is actually the biggest problem.
