Had mine fitted monday and i am very impressed so far, in the wet the grip is amazing as it is on mud too, just unbelievable how much difference they make it really is but they are not made for warm weather, the compound is very soft and in the dry the vehicle will slither sideways through high speed bends on the tyres probably due to the soft compound and tread pattern. com on then snow, im ready for you :saber:

Should have them fitted tomorrow or monday.

It's a bit early still for most parts of the UK, temps are not dropping below 10 Deg C, London will almost hit 20 C over the weekend.

No it isnt, my tyres are almost worn to the limit and have to go now  i will be interested to see what sort of difference they make if any to the vehicle, when we had the good snow the year before last i was piloting my transit on badly worn tyres everywhere doing deliveries, it took concentration and planning to drive successfully making sure on steep icy decents she was kept in check and there was enough speed carried to get up other long hills but she was a good truck and i would never have bothered with winter tyres, waste of time totaly in my veiw at that time. Now last years snow saw me in my new van, a FWD Master and to tell the truth i could not get the thing off my drive let alone up the hill in my street and onto level ground, ok she had summer tyres with 3mm of tread on but so did the old tranny the year before, anyway like i say i will see how she performs this year with winter rubber.

Dean, how are your winters holding up with all this warm weather? Have they worn down much? I put mine on today. Looks like after the weekend it start getting a bit colder.

(re Goodyear Ultragrip 8) i am very impressed so far
Me too; done between 3 and 4 hundred miles on ours this week -- including motorway, steep twisty hills, rough lanes ... some of it in the sort of rain that makes for a greasy road surface. Excellent in all aspects of performance including comfort; if they are equally impressive in heavy rain and snow they'll be the best tyres I've ever used.

Have you noticed any reduction in fuel economy?

In our case, too varied a selection of roads and inclines to tell but it didn't seem particularly worse than before. However, the 2.2 -- an auto mk.1 estate -- has had DPF removal and re-map (acceleration is excellent, seems to be plenty of power at all times) so comparison is more difficult anyway.
All the more so as the best Shell diesel isn't available locally, but did get a fill of it halfway through a long run.

Having now been up north on them in snow, sleet, heavy rain and over aquaplane-threatening puddles ... reckon there's a very high compatibility between the C5 estate and Goodyear's Ultragrip 8 tyres.

We have had no snow here, a little dissapointing!

However on the wet and greasy roads my C5 on its winter tyres are performing very well indeed. No increase in road noise, economy doesn't seem to have been too effected, im getting 1-2mpg less however that is probably more to do with the colder weather (-1 here this morning). I can't say they have worn at all, despite having covered 2K miles and driven briskly.

However I did do what is not recommended, put the best tyres on the front which has left the rears wanting for more grip and the ESP has been a little active at times. They are all winter tyres but the rears are older and not of a good make. I have a pair of Dunlop Winter Sport 3Ds on the way for the back which should settle the score.

Our C5 estate is still on Michelin Primacy HPs which are sliding a bit in this weather, they are getting worn though. It will be fitted with Kleber Krisalp winter tyres this week.

some kind of Citroën witchcraft
He reaches inside to operate the height lever but due to the delay in the time to change height the car looks to be changing height on its own.

Wish I could get things done that quickly

Sorry must have missed this, well we have had our first icy road (ish) this week and the tyres seem to prefer the cold weather, much less road noise now and better feel to them in colder conditions (suprise suprise) due to the work the van does i do go down a lot of gravel/mud tracks and the tyres really do pick up every stone they are a real pita for that but grip on mud is brilliant, same for wet roads, i did get stuck ish a few weeks back on a very steep rough concrete drive and foolishly let one wheel spin up while i was trying to get free and its torn the tread a bit as you would expect for such a soft compound.

wear wise they are doing fine, since they went on ive done about 3k and the wear is about the same as other tyres, i can see them lasting a year on the front which is about normal. In the snow i can see they would really give the edge judging by the performance so far.

Got mine on last weekend. Got my Goodyears on the back and some cheapo Nankang SV2 on the front. All good so far, but not had a chance to try them in any very testing conditions. Grip in the wet seems good. Had the usual problem of getting them balanced properly. Had to go back this morning due to vibration between 65 and 70 mph. All sorted now...bring on the snow, just so long as it's not deeper than about 6 or 7 inches! lol

We're off over there next week. My partner's Austrian and we've got into driving over for Xmas since last year. She's a Salzburgerland girl so it quite interesting to see others on this forum who have some kind of tie to Austria.

Fitted my winter tyres this weekend. Just aching for a blizzard to start getting the advantage!
