You could get the same effect on an XM by fitting accumulator spheres at the cornersCitroenmad wrote:That sounds about right to me Dean, DS is the most floaty. They each have their different advantages.Deanxm wrote:Did the XM owners just vote for the XM's the DS owners for the DS's etc etc etc??? surely the softest ride has to go to the DS? maybe CX at a push and best handling hydraulic Citroën would be the Activa? with the XM sitting in the middle as a compromise with a longer wheelbase than a Xant and the same Hydractive setup????

Yes as the centre ones are not restricted damping wise and the other two relate to controlling roll. The only other way I can think of altering the ride characteristics is by trying different pressure centre sphere's.davoxx wrote:sweet .. must try that so.DickieG wrote:Non Hydractive ones.davoxx wrote:which spheres did you use?
was it only the corners?

We had a ("P" reg.) Xantia lx estate, 1.9TD (manual).
As well as being easy handling despite its size, it proved very comfortable when my back went; bar above its glovebox got used a lot getting in and out. Reckon back pain, or rather minimisation of it, is a pretty good test where comfort is concerned.
The last two years we've only been running a ZX sx 1.9TD, an "R" reg. which served us well for 8 years now....
Recently with a few long-distance trips to come, got ourselves a mk.1 C5 sx 2.2 (auto) estate. Wife finds it relaxing, loves the cruise control.
