The Xantia has gone to a new home now, replaced with a 01 V6 C5.

Any issues that I should be paying particular attention to?
In a way it seems like new territory to me with this one...

Does the front clunk over even the smallest bumps? If yes its the drop links, virtually every C5 i've driven over 5 years old does it.

Funny that, I've been corresponding with a fellow New Zealander who has a C5 V6 with a duff autobox..

No, I know it's not you

Why did you decide to change to a C5?

Drops links can be a common replacement, however if they are replaced with genuine Citroen ones they last far longer. Cheap ones can last a year!

Our C5 estate needed a new drop link at 70K miles, not unexpected at that mileage.

Electrical gremlins might be something you need to look out for. Often traced back to the comms2000 so not the end of the world.

Also do keep an eye on the front calipers sticking on due to the handbrake linkage seizing up.

Pretty good cars C5s, I recommend them highly.

Yes Chris but you aint been brave enough to get a v6 c5 yet

Type and spec make it a real box of tricks I think. Hope you get a good run with it Mongoose.

Going by the Cit blurb they have uprated the engine in power and engineering strength. Alas it has more weight..........and 3 cats and looks..........bland?

Jim, any idea as to where he/she is? Have a friend who just wrecked one with a reconned box!

Just something slightly newer and bigger, they were the main reasons anyway haha

Speaking of the 3 cats, the thought has crossed my mind to take the 2 in the manifold out ( or should I say hollow out), can this be done or am I likely to upset/kill something???

No, all I know is he's called Zoran. The reconned 'box might be useful to him but at the last exchange he was pricing up the bits to fix his and about to delve inside it...

Seems access is a bit easier in the C5. Is it really?
