C5 CD Changer
What make and model of CD changer do I need for my C5?
My C5II has the wire and cage under the drivers seat ready to take a CD changer but it has never had one fitted. Am I right in thinking all I need to get is a CD changer and possibly tell the car it has one via the Lexia and I will be away?
If so what mode and make of change do I need to find?
Those of you with a C5 equipped with a changer ... do you have any means of connecting an Ipod to the radio?
I know the connects2 AUX input package plugs into the CD changer port in the back of the headunit, Id there a port in the back of the changer to take the AUX connector or is it a case of either or?
Thanks.

I have got hold of a Clarian CD changer which I believe to be the right model.
I have told the car via the Lexia, by going into installation, that is now has a CD changer. However it still doesn't work, it also brings up two fault codes about not being able to communicate with the changer.
Any ideas?

Hmm.... This may be a long shot but the Mk1 comms between CD / Head unit / BSI was done using VAN bus protocols the bus was known as the COMFORT VAN BUS. Now it is my understanding (which could have holes in it) that the MK2's are all CAN bus and the corresponding bus on a Mk2 is called the COMFORT CAN BUS.
So the two systems being very different in the way they work I doubt that a MK1 changer would work on a Mk2 car or vice versa.
But like I said I could be wrong. Just been looking at fitting a later radio from a Mk1 into a Mk2 and I am coming to the conclusion that an after market radio might be easier for the same reasons but then I loose all the Navigation Voice Commands plus control of the CD changer.

Thanks for your input cachaciero, thats very helpful.
Im begining to think the same now. I have been out with the Lexia for over an hour trying to go through various different menus and such to get the car talking to the changer. The car is now set so it has a changer but its still not able to communicate.
I think the problem lies with the CD changer I have bought for it. I was unable to find the correct product code for the C5II CD changer but thought the one I had got was the one. It does look to be from an older model, even though the plug fits.
Hmm.
Does anyone know which model of CD changer I need to get hold of for a 2006 C5?

Right, I have done a little more digging.
Apparently Citroen Service suggest the CD changer I have should work in cars built over my C5s DOB and after. However after asking Ben (owner of a 56 VTX+ on here) his changer has different numbers to mine and so im still left thinking its not the right one.
I have installed it with the Lexia, I have also told it in the radio configurations that the CD changer is present and still nothing. The CD changer wont eject and so appears to have no power.
- Either the CD changer I have is broken
- I have not enabled it correctly with the Lexia
- Something is amiss with my car (I least expect this)
- Or this CD changer is the wrong model for my car
I have been out fiddling with the Lexia again, there are so many options and sub menus its easy to get a bit lost with all the things a C5 can give you. I tried enabling a few things wondering if anything would work, dipping reverse mirror was one, welcome message another, nothing changed

I have not found anywhere in the BSI to enable the changer, it says which radio is fitted etc but nothing about the cd changer I think this is where I might be going wrong, as far as I know there is no power going to the changer ... so the BSI doesn't know its there to power it?
Also where would I find it in the M'F display menu?
Could there be a chance that the wire under the seat is not plugged into the back of the radio? I have tried to remove it but when trying to insert a tool into the holes either side nothing happens.

In the typical Citroen way nothing is ever as easy as it seems!
I have been to Citroen this morning to see if they could remove the radio, actually very easy, and the CD changer is not plugged in. There is also no wire behind the radio which I can find that might be the changer. And yet they put a wire under the drivers seat? Why dont they plug it in, or atleast leave the wire behind the radio for it to be plugged in.
Ill have to figure out how to trace the wire from under the seat, but its very tight and complicated behind a C5s dash.

Well, after Citroen went through all the trouble of installing a CD changer cage and wiring from the CD changer they didn't add any wiring from under the drivers seat to behind the dash and into the radio
Nice one Citroen, you might as well not have bothered!

When you do a global test it's on the global test screen, select it then go into programing.Citroenmad wrote: Also where would I find it in the M'F display menu?
As far as the BSI configuration you either need to go into ECU's present or customer options in the programming menu of the BSI.
Cant remember exactly without the car in front of me.
