Xsara HDi - Fr hub - help with alternative please

Post by Paul-R »

2001 Ph II Xsara HDi Estate with ABS

Ok folks - some help please.

Went to change the front discs and pads on the Xsara today and discovered that the left hand hub bearing was goosed. Worse than that the housing was worn so I need a replacement. Unfortunately none of the breakers nearby have the same car in stock for me to plunder.

So what else will fit? I suspect a Peugeot 306 of the same year but I haven't seen one of those either.

Cars that I've been offered: petrol Xsara II, Diesel Xsara Picasso, Diesel Peugeot 307. Anything of use there?

And while I'm at it, do any of these have the same driveshafts? The RH one is a bit clonky.

Breakers are only open till 2:00pm tomorrow so I could do with some rapid, hopefully positive, responses.

All Xsaras and Picassos use the same hubs according to service.citroen. Shafts are a lot more model specific, unfortunately.

Do the hubs then have the same bearings? Or is there a variation depending on the driveshaft?

Do all the hubs have holes and tapping for the ABS sensor? Do the Ph I Xsaras have the same hubs?

Thanks for the info so far.

I get P/N 3646 54 for you?

Seem to be interchanges with similar diesels except DW10ATE powered, in the M59 Blingos and Xsara I series. Also N5 306s and Partners that correspond with the Blingos.

All Mk2 bearings / hubs the same - no distinction for ABS or not. MK1 with ABS uses the same bits, but the non-ABS versions looks different. Hopefully you'll find something that fits!

OK, job done.

Nipped down to the breakers at lunchtime and just had the hub off when they closed at 2:00pm. I restarted back home and after another 2-1/2 hours had the job finished with the new discs and pads as well.

I'm absolutely knackered. I'm getting just too old for this!
