Thank you for that it really is interesting and worth knowing, have to say I really didn't think a sphere could be dropped through that hole.

Out of curiousity your replacement spheres? can you tell us a little about them where did you get them and make would be nice to know.

Re: C5 Question Center Suspension Sphere Removal

Thanks to the forum and especially this thread I managed to change the 6 spheres on my Citroen C5 mk 1 2001. The front centre sphere was a little difficult but after removing the heat shield (two nuts) and taking out the three nuts holding the regulator and forcing the sphere removal tool in, then tightening the nuts again to loosen the sphere the job was relatively easy.

I used the following spheres that I got from seekpart24.com

Monroe Spheres
Front regulator SP8117 66bar
Front SP8118 57 bar

Rear regulator SP8118 44bar
Rear SP8121 30bar

The car is now very smooth and feels like a citroen again. Does anybody have any experience with these spheres?
I hope that I used the correct spheres. The ride is soft and handling still very good.

I was going to change my front ones (been in shed for 2 years) but a little scared of something going wrong.

How easy are they to change?

Is it a simple lower the car, unscrew, fit new ones, top up fluid and all good to go?

Very easy to change. Set the car on high crack the spheres loose. Depresurise the system (I have a lexia) but there is a manual way to do it. Remove the spheres and replace.

Does anyone know how to manually de pressure the suspension?

After new spheres are fitted is it just a case of switching on the engine and just topping up fluid?

I know I work at a garage (office) but they nothing about Citroen suspension.

Do spheres go off if not fitted?

Been in outside storage for over 1.5 years and did have surface rust which has been cleaned up.

The numbers on them are 453PC0430 dated 16 06 11. I believe they should be fronts with sport button suspension, does anyone know if the numbers are correct?
