c5 problems

hi guys.im having a few problems with my 2002 c5 hdi.a few weeks ago it started lacking in power.local mechanic change the brake light switch and the throttle module he called it.that did not solve it.then changed 2 injectors,stil no good.then changed the air flow meter,this improved it a bit but not what id hoped.now for the last few days the speedometer is acting up.sometimes doesnt move and other times goes up to 90 if only doing 40.are these problems linked or does anyone have a remedy for either.any help appreciated.

Your best bet is to get it on a Lexia and see what fault codes have been stored or you will be throwing new bits at it for a while yet.

The speedo will be a different problem, the stepper motor fails in the unit. There is a thread on here somewhere which suggests the motor in the speedo unit can be swapped for another one (an ebay link was given). This appears a cheap and fairly easy fix. I have priced up a new C5 speedo unit, as I had one fail, the cost is eye watering

it was the lexia that brought up the brake light switch and throttle module,there were no other faults.that stepper motor,excuse my stupidity but is that behind the dash or under the bonnet.can it be bought 2nd hand.

The stepper motor is inside the speedo unit, which is easy to remove from the front of the dash. I believe the stepper motor can be bought for less than £20 on ebay, new.

Have a search with the search function to see if you can find another thread about it, as there were links to ebay items, im not sure exactly which ones. Ill have a look for the link and post it if I find it.
