Removing particle filter.

Post by JohnD »

At 85000 miles my C5 must be getting close to the time to refill the fluid tank. So I've been thinking about removing the dmf altogether. I came across this website where they offer a postal service. You remove the ecu and send it to their workshop.

Has anybody used this company? Opinions on what they offer would be appreciated.

Flywheel ?

Post by Atma »

Just seen that it is being suggested to change the flywheel in connection with the Fap and particle filter.....not sure why that is connected?
Surly it is a simple process to remap the thingy and should not cost so much, does anyone have the details, ie; software etc., needed to this....
Seems like the way to go when needed........

If yours is a 2.0 138bhp HDi then im pretty sure there is no solid flywheel available for it yet. There is for the 2.0 HDi 8v though. Though the DMF has no connection to the FAP, not sure why somewhere would have suggested to change both ...

Have a search back on here for info regarding removal of the FAP, I think there was a lengthy thread about it at one point. I have not looked into it myself but is it not just a matter of telling the car it no longer has one, via a Lexia or whatever, then remvoing the parts.

Telling the car it hasn`t got a FAP with Lexia is not enough , you need to DPF off software the engine ECU or you`ll end up with a heap of trouble.

The flywheel reference is bit of gentle humour. If you read the OP carefully, he's written DMF (Dual Mass Flywheel) instead of DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter)

Paul is having a laugh at my expense. I did a typo by putting DMF instead of DPF

But the original question is academic now. The firm has got back to me telling me that for some reason C5's can't be done on mail order.

PS. Sorry! didn't see the previous post.
