Post by Timmo »

Hi guys, wife informed me the key spins round on the passenger door,
is it a simple fix?? Figured it may be a circlip off on the lock unit?? Thought before i pop the door card off i,d check with those in the know!!

If the key spins in the door lock of a Xantia its either the wrong key or needs a little fiddling to get it to locate correctly, unlike traditional locks where using when the wrong key the lock won't turn, with Xantia's the locks spin as you describe. Its quite a good idea as there's no easy way of forcing the lock so to speak.

I see! So could be replacement lock at some point then rather than anything falling off the lock!
Makes sense!

Had the same trouble with my Dispatch van locks ( same barrels ) Timmo , your alternatives are new barrels ( expensive ) , get a new key cut ( it may or may not work ) though it did for me on most of my doors 4 out of 5 or take your barrel out and get a good locksmith to rebuild the lock innards to your original key (£15) , just had to have some old cylinders re-keyed from a breakers yard after some tw&ts broke into my van , the cylinders will be as good as new once rebuilt , hope this helps

Most likely a worn key.

The lock they are most used with wears in synch with the key, the other one doesn't.
