Weighing iz Believing

Post by Dippy »

out and about with Synthia & Tin Hut

The Caravan + Contents are @1170Kg

Which is 130Kg below Citroen's stated limit of 1300Kg .

Image

I can , and sometimes do go up to 1270Kg , but I have 30+ years experience of being frightened witless by rogue cross winds ...

Posted in wrong section - sorry - should be in towing weight question - Mods to the rescue ???

Lunar Solar 505 , 505 Centimetres being the appx' internal floor lenghth.

Any of your listed here vehicles would lope along with it . no worries .

If the " experts " are listened to , my Syn is rubbish with only 90 ish ponies.

But, a Van / Mpv makes a big hole in the air and you tend not to suffer the " who tossed the parachute out ? " effect common to lower roofed vehicles when driving into wind .

e.g - this months Caravan Club mag ' rates a 138 ponies HDI engine as " average" in pulling power - Oh really !

It's not that long since my 406 2.1 XUD Estate won towcar of the year competition , and my BX 1.7 DTR Estate before it .

I think they're as guilty as most people driving new car's they don't pay for, I see it regularly at work myself.

Despite driving LGV's (artic's) I think I've only once briefly driven a car towing a caravan, is your caravan light in weight as it looks very large to me being a non caravanner.

The simplistic reply is - Yes. Lunars of this era were generally regarded as lightweight vans'

In reality , caravan construction is extremely " variable " being polite.

Sounds like some spoiled little barstewards are writing these articles.!!

I towed the old 16ft Sprite Major around with a 75BHP Rover 2000 P6  . I went on to the 3.5 v8 Rover and Triumph 2.5pi after that.............but boy did you pay the fuel when towing
