C5 2.0Hdi 90 Bhp Clutch Replacement

Post by djjtl »

I have just had my car in to a independant citroen specialist to check on loss of power.

I have been told it's the clutch starting to slip and wear away and it needs replacing.

I am wondering on the cost of the replacement as I've been quoted £400 and I know it's the standard clutch rather than the dmf one.

I also asked for the print off from the diagnostic session and was told that he didnt have it.

I know I have the break warning light coming on and I have also a problem with the AC not working and I have just got a set of genuine citroen front pads for £25.

I just feel a little let down as I wanted all the fault codes to sort out all the cars little niggles

The only Lexia operator anywhere near you appears to be Paul-R.

Have a word and see if he will run a diagnostic and provide a list of any fault codes it reveals.

As he is impartial there will be no skulduggery about letting you have the codes.
£400 does seem to be at the higher end of the scale for independents but not by much.

I've changed a clutch in a C5 - albeit it a 2.0 HDI 16V, and it's a long and arduous job. £400 including parts is pretty cheap - my mate was quoted around £1k for his - mind you that included £500 worth of clutch and DMF.

March '09 I paid £498 for a new clutch and DMF fitted. Along with a couple of other little jobs.

I Just dropped the car at another garage who is going to use a valeo clutch kit and It's costing £325. :D

What I wasn't happy with the independent garage was they got my car at 9am and rang me to say it was the clutch at 11.30.

I asked them for a price at 11.30 and they didnt ring me until 5pm with there quote and then said they wouldn't get the clutch kit to late on friday (today) so it would be monday before they could start.
