Clips - Engine covers and trays
When I cleaned the engine cover during the oil change I did yesterday, I noticed it was free of the engine with the clips on!!!! Basically the rubberised shafts of all but one of the retaining bolts had sheared (Edit - these are referred to as dampers). Is this common?
Here are the clips, but their corresponding retainers (Edit - or dampers) are shafted :

Edit - just found similar on ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PEUGEOT-HDi-E ... 4cf7958253
I've also lost a few retainers from the "engine undershielding" These are the slotted mushroom headed clips (called buttons) that have grab shafts. I don't know if we're meant to push up and twist these by just a few degrees (tend to push and twist 45-90 degrees), but I've got only a few left out of how many? (Edit - Should be 6). Of course the 4 small bolts that do the bulk of the retaining are fine (Edit - should be 6 of these also).

I wonder if there are loads of oily undetrays in people's garages - left as awkward asides from various oil changes?Gibbo2286 wrote:I bought a set of those for my C5 last week seem ok so far.
What I need to finish this car is the undertray from under the engine, it was missing when I bought the car and seems pretty difficult to find in the breakers.

If there are I would like one please !! The engine undertray doesn't need to be removed for an oil change, there is a little hatch for access to the drain plug and the filter is removed from above.
Now using '00 Xantia LX HDI, pov spec
My past Citroens :-
'00 Xantia SX HDI, now dead due to accident

Is that right? Never noticed (duh). Perhaps because of the amount of oilHDI wrote:If there are I would like one please !! The engine undertray doesn't need to be removed for an oil change, there is a little hatch for access to the drain plug and the filter is removed from above.
Will take a look. But how do you get the oil to drain? Funnel? If it's awkward, then I'm happy to take the undershield off once a year.

The buttons with grab shafts ... item 10 part 703016 ... must be firmly pushed straight in without twisting them.
Turning by a ¼ turn loosens them.
C5’s don’t have flaps.
