I swapped over my wiper arm motor/linkage on my Xantia this morning. Tested and all worked fine. Having replaced and sealed the scuttle trim then attached wipers I checked to see if they swept properly. On turning the ignition there is now a tick tick tick
The ignition will not start, electric sun roof is stuck. I plugged in the old wiper motor to make sure the new one was not causing the issue same problem.
What could cause this? I need to get my windows closed as its going to rain tomorrow.
Cheers
Jamie

Hiya, No battery is fine.
Sorry if this is a running commentary.
I have now tracked down the intermittent relay for the wipers. Having unplugged this the fault continues.
Listening to the ticking and where it comes from I tracked the fault to a small black box labelled "relais protege" right next to the battery. Disconnecting this the ticking stops.
I am unable to turn the car over what is this box and what does it do?

SORTED
Found the problem it. In leaning on the car battery I have slightly damaged one of the earth leads on the chassis mount. The brittle old cable is now patched up and all is running!
