Pump off again.

Post by lexi »

After removing MK2 V6 Xantia pump and fixing the leak............it is back again.

I only renewed the 2 larger o rings in the hex valves top and bottom.

I am wondering if the triangular gasket on the pump pulley end is leaking. I checked the 3 bolts and one was needing torqued up. Anyone got a p/n for that gasket. If I take those 3 through bolts out I can renew the large o ring at other end? Any stuff gonna fly out there?

Can the pulley spindle leak? Not much of a pump drawing on Cit Service.........anyone got a better one?

As far as I know Lexi, there is no gasket on the triangular end...

I always let Mr. Pleiades repair my pumps so I don't know the answer about the O ring but I'd guess so.

I need to go there because the XM has a leak of biblical proportions from the pump, even when standing. Hopefully it's the same as a Xantia one...

Bet it's your suction pipe stub split and not the pump itself

Had that off in my hand. No split but I will check further and hope you are right. I think you can actually see a gasket on that triangular plate behind the boltheads.

I thought of taking it out and looking. Then just make a new fibre gasket up.

Check the bosses where the hex adaptors screw into the pump body, I had a persistant leak that initially could be almost cured by replacing the O rings, finally it turned out to be a hairline crack in the pump body in the boss on the top of the pump.

Look at the picture in my last post in this thread,

Putting the search mirror and a bright light in there it is possible to get a good look at the boss and plugs while running. ATM Jims theory of hose is only thing I am seeing. A ring of fluid seems to be right at the bottom of it with all wet below that.

Took hose off and made another up out of the clear type fuel hose with fibre reinforcing. Decent tight fit and this stuff has stood up to Biodiesel so lets see how it goes. Used jubilee clips instead of the original CIT clips this time.

Didn't realise you were referring to the fuel pump ! Disregard my reply, my problem was the hydraulic pump !

So is Lexi's  I think it was the reference to fuel hose that confused matters...

After all, there were very few diesel V6 Xantias...

More's the pity. A 3.0 V6 diesel Xantia would have been lovely :(

You were spot on first time HDI...hyd pump. Got me thinking that if my pump were to be cracked like yours then the welder would be coming out. No other option really and worth a try.

There are various reasons why that could kill the pump and if it did you would not have a unit to exchange on a recon one.
I can give you a contact for a recon pump at a good price if you need it.
They charge you the full price then give you a £25 refund when the faulty one is returned.
