Nuts and bolts
I need to replace the suspension struts on my ZX TD as one side has a slight leak. The Haynes manual advises that most of the fasteners on the brakes and suspension can only be used once and should be renewed. Is this really necessary? I wouldn't want to compromise on safety, but would Loctite on the old fasteners be ok?

Use your common sense in this case, if there is anything wrong with the nut or bolt, replace it.
Pay particular attention to the state of the threads.
Nylock nut's where they are critical are best renewed to be safe.
Using loctite is ok until it comes to removing the bolt again in the future, then it can be a pain in the arse.

I would have thought it would be o.k. to re-use the existing bolts, as long as they arn't corroded.
They are not stretch bolts or anything weird, so I just think Haynes are being paranoid about being sued in the states, or something.
The only thing to make sure of is that if you re-use nylok nuts check they are still capable of gripping, and the big brake calliper bolts are scrubbed up clean with a wire brush.
