Something went wrong... Temperally...HDi Exclusive

Post by citroenxm »

hi all,

On the run home tonight, I was just pulling out of a junction when momenterally the HDi Exclusive had a lack of fuel... anyway, she instanly continued so I thought nothing of it..

I then drove 30 miles towards home, then after a round-a-bout at around 3,500k, there was a sudden GREY cloud of smoke.. Not black, grey, I could see through it..  the exhaust was then perfectly clear...

Stopped at a local Spar, then started up to go home, and the management light came on and I was limited to 2,200 revs...

Thoughts start running, oh no, this 600 quid car has decided to go wrong fo the FIRST time in 23,000 miles...

So I got home, popped the Lexia on and ran a diagnostic.. At first I was thinking Fuel Tank Lift pump as she appears to be on her original at 183k so I was expecting low fuel pressure... but nope.. instead a permaenent fault on the Air Flow Meter.... So I popped the bonnet, and low and behold the air flow meter PLUG had come undone!!

Pushed it back on, reset everything and all is resotred!

So the Xantia Exclusive CONTINUES to be 100% faultless... This is the car I bought from Xantic last Novemeber I think it was...

Long live the HDi .. :D

I kid you not! Ask our own Russ (Xantia) she was on 159k when I bought it - high miles I thought, but no problem... I stuck a Cam belt, water pump, bottom pully and an Accumilator sphere on, and done two oil changes... Oh, and so far NOT fitted any tyres yet either... She not needed them.

So if ever a HDi is unreliable... this one IS NOT.!

Can't beat a good HDi - our estate just keeps going and going. Only on a mere 155K though... :)

Brilliant tow cars too! 8-) AND it's only a 90.

Ah well, mines a 110bhp WITH a tuning box on Max setting... No idea what its putting out, but even with a boot full of tools, shes STILL quicker then a standard 110bhp setup....

Well pleased...

Roger's son Matt has still got Roger's old tuning box in his parts pile. Apparently it took it to just over 130BHP.

Trouble is though, Matt doesn't have a Xantia! Just wished ours was a 110!

Get it on that 90bhp Franklin!! The 110's are more efficient and better on fuel too.... Mine still gives me around 43mpg and shes at 75mph most of the time - Where allows!

It really is amasing how the miles tot up. I worked the miles I have driven since Jan this year:

My C5: 10K miles
Sisters C5: 2K+ miles
XM: 1500 miles
Activa 3K miles
C1: 1K+ miles
1007: 1K miles

Plus the bits and pieces in the other few cars and other peoples cars too. Getting on for, or probably more than, 20000 miles, I can't believe it! Again all my private mileage.

Good job we have these economical HDis

It depends, my tuning box connects into the injectors, and the injector plugs goto the other spare plugs.... Its not so much the Tuning state, its the Engine Type. My two Box's are for the DW10AETD (or the 2.oi 8v engines) and no others like the 16v or the 1.4 8v....

So it should do for a 90 bhp ...!! If it connects like mine above..
